My name is Quyen Mundt. I’m from Central Vietnam, and even though I moved to the United States in 2013, my heart is breaking for the region I come from. Central Vietnam is now struggling with the aftermath of a historic flood, and the devastation is heartbreaking — homes destroyed, families displaced, children hungry and cold as they try to recover. They may not be the neighbors I grew up with, but they are still my people that bound by the same home and the same resilience.
If you want to see what true strength looks like, watch how people from Central Vietnam handle the consequences of floods year after year. They rebuild from almost nothing. They survive the impossible. They keep going even when the road to recovery feels endless.
Right now, though, they need help. Many don’t even have food. To understand how far your compassion can go, a 30-pack box of instant ramen costs about $5 USD in Vietnam. Just $5 can give a family warm meals when they have lost everything.
