Inspired by our colleagues here at The International School ParkCity Hanoi (ISPH), Sean and Steve have decided to use their upcoming personal challenges to help raise awareness and give back to the less fortunate children of Vietnam. ISPH staff, students and parents have been raising money for the Blue Dragon Children’s Foundation for a few years now and we wanted to continue the fundraising throughout the 2023 - 2024 school year.
Steve has now achieved his goal of running a 100km ultra trail race. He was 13th overall at the Vietnam Mountain Marathon (VMM) in Sapa 2023. Recapping 2023, Steve ended up running more than 2000 km including completing his first 42km, 70km and 100km ultra trail mountain races. He will continue to train on the peaks of Soc Son and on the streets around Park City Hanoi and any hill or mountain he can find in his travels. In January 2024, Steve returned to where he ran his first 42 km ultra one year ago, The Vietnam Trail Mountain (VTM) race in Moc Chau, and he was looking for a top ten finish in the 70 km race. Struggling a bit in a very strong field of runners he finished 20th male and 26th overall and 7th in his age category. His next goal for 2024 is to run the first edition of the Vietnam Ultra Marathon (VUM) 70 km on the trails of Mai Chau in March. Steve wants to finish in the top 10 overall.
Sean has now achieved his goal of running his first 50km ultra trail race. He was 55th overall at the Vietnam Mountain Marathon (VMM) in Sapa 2023. Sean will continue to train for more road and trail marathons, his next goal for 2024 is to run the first edition of the Vietnam Ultra Marathon (VUM) 50 km on the trails of Mai Chau in March.
