I am currently in South Vietnam exploring Temples in the coastal town of Vung Tau.
A week ago I walked into the entrance of one Temple to witness a nun and supporters deeply engaged in piling up 1000s of clothing items, bound by string, bound for the flooded Central Vietnam regions.
Later the gate area was totally covered with 100s of huge water cylinders and piles of rice sacks. A human conveyor belt was moving these supplies from the concrete to the roadside truck. Their focus, enthusiasm and comradery was profoundly inspiring.
I felt witness to that inexpressible relief that can be felt from deeply purposeful and timely generosity.
From that moment at that Temple Gate I have wondered - how can I help?

This year, more than 15 typhons and tropical depressions have hit Vietnam. Rainfall exceeded 1.9m (6ft 2 ins) in some locations – levels unseen in the region since 1993, over 400 people have died, over 340,000 homes have been destroyed, over 3 million livestock have died. There are families who have lost everything.....
AND IT IS NOT OVER YET! More rain is falling and more is forecast.
This figure will rise as MORE damage occurs - officials estimate damage of over economic losses of up to US$ 370million across five badly affected provinces – Quang Ngai, Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Khanh Hoa and Lam Dong.

$20 will deliver emergency food supplies including rice and vegetables
$50 will purchase a package of pots, pans and bedding to families in temporary accommodation.
