The Heartbeat Tour - Hanoi to Da Nang Run for Blue Dragon

I'm Vincent Lo, an endurance athlete from Hong Kong.

On 24th of May, I'm running from Hanoi to Da Nang – 760 kilometers, with no transportation. No buses. No trains. Just me and the road.

This is Stage Two of The Heartbeat Tour – 100 marathons across Southeast Asia. But this stage is different. This time, I'm running for someone other than myself.

I'm running for the children Blue Dragon rescues from trafficking.

Why Blue Dragon?

I was born in Hong Kong – a more privileged city. I had opportunities to study, to move, to dream. Not every child gets that chance.

Blue Dragon gives children that chance. They rescue kids from slavery. They feed them. They put them in school. They give them a future.

I've followed their work for years. Their Running Club – where a six-year-old named Bình completed his first 5km and hugged his medal all the way home – that's what inspired me to turn my run into a fundraiser.

Here's the truth: life doesn't wait for perfect plans.

I originally planned 20 days for this run. A steady, sustainable pace. Then my job interview moved up to June 3.

Now I have 10-11 days.

That means running 70-75km per day instead of 35-40km. Nearly two marathons. Every day. In 40°C heat. Self-supported.

Is it possible? I don't know. But I made a promise to myself and to the children Blue Dragon serves. A promise is a promise.

I may not finish before my interview. But I will start. I will run as far as my body allows. And after the interview, I will return to that exact spot and continue until I reach Da Nang.

Because the children Blue Dragon serves don't get to postpone their suffering. They don't get to wait for perfect conditions.

So neither do I.
